Savage's Exterior Remodeling Company

Savage Minnesota Skyline

Savage should have grown up in the 1950s along with every other close-in suburb, but the Minnesota River got in the way. Cut off without a direct highway connection, the city sat mostly undeveloped through the postwar boom that filled Bloomington, Richfield, and Coon Rapids with ramblers. It took the arrival of Highway 13 and a bridge carrying Highway 169 over the river to finally open Savage up, and once that happened, the residential growth came fast, mostly ranch-style homes and split-levels from the 1980s and '90s rather than the '50s and '60s housing you'd find almost everywhere else nearby. The city's name comes from M.W. Savage, whose farm here once housed Dan Patch, one of the most famous racehorses in American history. Charles Lindbergh reportedly crash-landed a plane near the river years before he became famous, and during World War II the Army ran a Japanese-language school out of Camp Savage while ships were built at Port Cargill down on the water. It's an unusual amount of history for a suburb this newly residential.

Exterior Work for Savage's 1980s and '90s Homes

Because Savage's housing boom happened decades later than its neighbors, most homes here are hitting their first major exterior replacement right about now:

  • Roofingroof replacement with Owens Corning shingles, right for a ranch or split-level from Savage's main growth years.
  • Sidingsiding in James Hardie fiber cement or Exterior Portfolio vinyl to update an '80s or '90s exterior without losing the home's original shape.
  • Decks — TimberTech composite decking, a strong match for river-bluff lots and Savage's outdoor-oriented layout.
  • Windows — ProVia window replacement, especially valuable if your home is still running original builder-grade windows.

Seamless gutters are available as an add-on if you're already having roofing or siding replaced.

Savage Questions

Often, yes. Roofing and siding installed in that era is now well past the point most manufacturers rate it for, even if it still looks okay from the curb. Worth an honest look either way.

Regularly. We scope terrain and access during the estimate rather than assuming a flat, standard setup.

We partner with Regions, and they offer several payment structures depending on project size. We'll go through actual numbers during your consultation.

Yes, directly with your adjuster if hail or wind damage is involved.

Manufacturer coverage on materials, plus our own labor guarantee, 10 years for roofing, siding, and windows, 5 years for decks.

This past Summer, we hired Midwest Construction to replace insulation, roof and shingles on our 4-Season Porch. They kept us well informed all along the way and they did an excellent job! They were very professional! Midwest pricing was reasonable. We would not hesitate to use Midwest Construction again on any projects that may come up in the future!

There are many construction companies to chose from and why I picked Midwest Construction & Remodeling, was because of the No Pressure approach and Just a great company to work with. Clear communications on the timeline, products used (very well explained), and coordinated with the final inspections + working with our insurance company. My neighbor had used them for a project and was really happy with their work. I will use them again for future projects.
